Hewlett opened up the championship game with a 6 - 2 run, with Catherine Pastor (All-Tournament) scoring all 6 points. The first quarter would turn when Pastor picked up her 2nd foul at the 4:34 mark. Lynbrook would go on their own 6 - 2 run to take the lead 9 - 8 with 3:05 left. Lynbrook's Jessy Rosen would score 5 points to give her team a 14 - 8 lead. Pastor would find Makisa Linnas open for a 3 pointer, which closed the gap to 14 -11. The second quarter would see the game tied 4 times with 3 lead changes. The last tie 23 - 23 coming when Melissa Cooper hit a short jumper. Both Pastor and Rosen spent most of the quarter getting their teammates involved in the offense. The inside game of Angelica Pollicino, Daniela Periera and Jill Tricarico (transfer from Sacred Heart Academy) would eventually wear Hewlett down and allow Jessy Rosen to get open, whether scoring or distributing the ball to her teammates. In the 3rd quarter, Pastor scored 7 of her team 9 points, while Lynbrook's Jessy Rosen was scoring 12 points. Her teammates Melissa Tischler, Tricario, and Brooke Gerstmann added 8 points. Pastors teammates struggled to score not only in the 3rd quarter but the 4th quarter as well. The 3rd quarter ended with Lynbrook leading 43 -32. The largest lead of the game would eventaully grow to 15 half way through the 4th quarter. Hewlett's Pastor did a good job trying to keep her teammmates involved in the offense, teammate Melissa Cooper was also named to the All-Tournament team. Lynbrook playing without 4 returning players will be a team to keep an eye on as the season develops. They have a budding star in Jessy Rosen (All-Tournament), a welcome addition, Sacred Heart's loss in Jill Tricarico (All-Tournament) and a bonafide inside presence in Angelica Pollicino. Lynbrook: 14 - 23 - 43 - 54, Hewlett: 11 - 23 - 32 - 41.
