EI SLIPS UP AGAINST HHH WEST |

Monday - Dec. 17th East Islip: 5 - 16 - 31 - 43, HHH West: 10 - 27 - 40 - 53. In a game that featured mostly guards in both lineups, the game started out with sloppy play. East Islip wouldn't get their first shot off until the 5:24 mark, while HHH West had numerous attempts but didn't connect until the 3:24 mark. HHH West would outscore EI 10 - 0 over the last 3 minutes to lead 10 - 5. In the second quarter, EI would go three minutes without scoring while HHH West lead grew to 9 points midway through the quarter. At the start of the third quarter, HHH West went up by 16, later they would go up by 17 and appeared ready to run EI off their own court. In the last 2 minutes EI would outscore HHH West 10 - 2 to close to within 9. Laura Hill hit two free throws to open the 4th quarter and EI was within 7. HHH West would go on a 4 - 0 run to go up by 11. EI would never get closer than 9 points. EI Struggled throughout the game with HHH West pressure, and are going to need to do a better job on the boards at both ends of the court. Brenna McKelvey is the most experienced player on the roster while Laura Hill (freshmen) is going to get every chance to develop and grow as the season progresses. EI will be looking to Jeannette Spillane and Denean Noviello to provide scoring and help on the boards. HHH West played for the first time in a long time without Tesia Harris, now at the University of Delaware. They pounded the boards at both ends without any real inside presence, it will be interesting to see how they repsond to teams with a bigger front line. Christine Marra struggled offensively but spearheaded HHH West full court pressure and did a good job running the offense. Ashley Lloyd was utilized as the post player, though undersized she has the stength to hold her own against larger players. HHH West will goes as far as their pressure continues to turnover opponents guards and Charelle St Laurent, Imar Hoyt and Jahmilai Cruz can pick up the scoring lost due to Harris' graduation.
