LAST WEEKS RECAP - Carle Place @ CSH PDF Print E-mail

For the second game of Friday nights doubleheader, I drove up to Cold Spring Hasrbor for their matchup against Carle Place. This game was close thoughout until the 4th quarter. While both teams struggled to score consistently, it was Carle Place that finally got its act together in the 4th quarter. Except for 4 missed  free throws, Carle Place was unconscious as it seemd like every shot they took went in. As for CSH, they got plenty of opportunities but couldn't finish. CSH was outscored 18 - 3 over the last 4 minutes. Carle Place's Dana McLaughlin struggled early but scored 14 of her 21 points in the second half. While Kristen Dimmling didn't score, she was big on the boards, especially at the defensive end. Meanwhile, CSH utilized their entire bench - don't know if this was by design or not, also have to question how long new coach can get away with this before hearing it from parents. Also, this subsitution pattern disrupted the flow of the team at times and at other times players were left on the court too long. Both teams have relatively young rosters but CSH is now on their 3rd coach in the past 3 years. So far the parents in the post Sczerbiak/Harrison era have been supportive and patient to date. The question is: is the coach willing to hang in for the long haul? With the new alignment, Carle Place finds themselves in unfamiliar territory as they battle Oyster Bay for the league title. In their first meeting Oyster Bay came out on top 47 - 46...
