LAST WEEKS RECAP - Floyd @ Lindenhurst PDF Print E-mail
On my way home from Sayville, I dropped in on the Floyd-Lindenhurst game. From Lindenhurst's perspective, this game  would be very similiar to their first game of the season against Amityville. The only difference this time was the presence of Dominique Johnson. She was able to lead  her team back to victory with a late comeback in the 4th quarter. Lindenhurst trailed early as they struggled with the athleticism and  defensive pressure of Floyd. In the 2nd  quarter, Floyd couldn't buy a basket while Lindenhurst, led by Kristen McLoughlin grabbed a 5 point halftime lead. At one point, they outscored Floyd 14 - 4. Lindenhurst would extend their lead to 7 in the 3rd quarter as play for both teams was erratic. Floyd would miss 4 of 8 free throws. Early in the 4th quarter, Floyd would make a couple of runs at Lindenhurst, only to see Lindenhurst answer right back. You got the feeling that time was going to run out on Floyd just as it did on Amityville early in the season. Fouls and the inability to finish would hurt Lindenhurst down the stretch. Poggio was playing with 4 fouls most of the second half, while Zajac and Comens would eventually foul out. Over the last 4 minutes Johnson willed her team to victory, while Lindenhurst was held to 7 points. Question - why is 6'2 Zajac playing most of the time on the perimeter?
