LAST WEEKS RECAP - EAST HAMPTON @ ISLIP |
The first game featured winless East Hampton playing Islip. Islip is fighting to qualify for the play-offs. East Hampton struggled early with Islip's pressure. Caitlin Lauer picked up her second foul at the 6:07 mark in the first period. East Hampton took advatnage attacking the interior of Islip's defense. Islip was held to one basket over the last 4 minutes of the quarter and couldn't keep Johann off the boards. The second quarter was played pretty much evenly with Johann continuing to give Islip trouble on the boards. Islip would get scoring from five different players but they couldn't pull away from East Hampton. The third quarrter is where Islip finally pulled away as East Hampton stopped looking inside and began to rush their shots. Again Islip got scoring from 5 players, but is was Alex Doersam pushing the ball up the court that allowed Islip to open a 9 point lead. East Hampton had closed to within 4 points only to give up 2 baskets (one being a 3 at the buzzer) in the last 40 seconds. Islip would struggle to score in the last quarter but defensively they came up with the stops needed to hold off East Hampton. Considering the fact that they are winless, East Hampton played hard right through the final horn. As for Islip every game right now is a playoff game and they are going to have to do a better job on their interior defense and free throw shooting. Down the stretch they shot 2 for 7.
