LAST WEEKS RECAP - SOUTHAMPTON @ BABYLON |

Who knew what to expect? Babylon is struggling this year while Southampton has not won a game this season. Early on it was apparent as to what the problem is for both teams - the inability to score. Babylon had an obvious advantage in the post and yet couldn't capitalize consistently throughout the game. As for Southampton, graduation over the last two years has depleted their roster. Babylon would open a 9 - 4 first quarter lead but twice they went 3 minutes without scoring in the quarter. Southamptoin would not get on the board unitl there were 36 seconds left in the quarter. Southampton would closed to 11 - 10 with 2:32 to go in the half. Again both teams struggled to put the ball in the basket. Would like to credit the defense of both teams but more times than not they just couldn't finish. Southampton would close to within 2 again by outscoring Babylon 10 - 9 in the 3rd quarter. In the fourth quarter, Southampton ran out out of steam as the lack of a bench wore their starters down. Late in the game Leah Eleazer went down, coach went on the court and could have used a timeout but chose not to. For some unknown reason coach didn't sub her back in at the next dead ball. The star of the game was Southampton's Imani Richardson. She injued her left arm ealry in the game and basically played with one arm the entire game - many times grabbing rebounds one handed. Babylon's balanced scoring down the stretch allowed them to hold off Southampton. Again another team with no victories has to be commended for playing hard right up to the final buzzer.
