Babylon Holds Off Shelter Island |

Shelter Island grabbed the lead early in the second quarter - outscoring Babylon 9 - 5 to hold a 16 - 13 lead at halftime. The run was capped off with a 3 point shot by 8th grader Kelsey McGayhey. Babylon would tie the score 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter at 18 - 18. Later in the quarter, Babylon took the lead for good on 2 consecutive baskets by Junior Emily Wardell. In the 4th quarter, Shelter Island got to within one point 25 - 24 only to go 4 minutes without scoring. Babylon was led Senior Cailtin Sweetapple (12 points) and Alyssa Mayo (9 points), Senior Colleen Pisciotta battled on the boards all night. Leading scorers for Shelter Island were Katie McGayhey (10 points) and Tina Radno (9 points). Babylon: 8 - 13 - 24- 37, Shelter Island: 7 - 16 - 22 - 30.
