Lindenhurst Survives Late Run by Amityville |

Lindenhurst came out running on all cyclinders as they opened a 22 - 11 lead at halftime. Amityville's offense struggled to get anything going while Lindenhurst executed theirs at will. Junior Krystyna Zajac despite hitting her head on the floor led everyone with 8 points at half. With Hall of Fame Coach Byer sitting in the house Amityville continued to struggle through most of the 3rd quarter, trailing 34 - 22 with 1:12 left. Then Lindenhurst hit the wall as Amityville started to control the boards and press their way back into the game, climbing to within 1 (36 - 35) with 2:38 to play. While Lindenhurst would go over 4 minutes without scoring Amityville was led Juniors Siobhan Purvis and Yasmina Powell (transfer from Delaware). Unfortunately for Amityville they could not sustain the run as Junior Marissa Poggio scored 4 points in the last 1:36 to hold off Amityville. 8th grader Raven Price (Amityville) was a force on the boards and will be a major contributor to Amityville's future. Lindenhurst had 3 players in double digits - Kaitlyn Vrana (14), Poggio (12) and Zajac (10), while Amityville was led by Sophomore Megan Eastwood (12) and Yasmina Powell (8).
