NEW HYDE PARK PULLS AWAY FROM GREAT NECK SOUTH PDF Print E-mail
What a difference a year makes. GNS lost three key players to graduation and had to face NHP without their two interior players - Sophomore Michelle Ross (knee injury) and Alyssa Chaplin (sick). NHP took advantage of the height difference by constantly working the ball inside to sister Ciara McCullagh (Fr.) and Meaghan McCullagh (Jr.), this mismatch also allowed Caroline Smolenski (Jr.) to get out on the break throughout the game. Meanwhile, GNS only returning starter Senior Ariel Baliey is not only going to have to provide scoring but leadership and patience as her teammates develop and gain experience throughout the season. NHP was able to dominate the boards at both ends of the court and eventually wore down the undersized GNS team. NHP: 10 - 17 - 28 - 47, GNS: 5 - 14 - 21 - 30.
