DIVISION SPRINTS AWAY FROM PLAINVIEW JFK PDF Print E-mail
Division capitalized early and often on the lack of any inside presence for PJFK (6'3 Liz Kudirka - Monmouth College) to open a 19 - 7 first quarter lead. Meanwhile, PJFK 4 guard offense struggled at their offensive end, unable to penetrate Division's zone defense. Divison's defense forced PJFK into many hurried shots. Junior Jenna Davis scored 11 of Division's 28 first half points while directing their offense. Thoughout the game Division did a much better job of moving the ball and getting everyone involved. As the 4th quarter started with Division leading 42 - 18, PJFK started to apply defensive pressure the full length of the court and moved ball the quicker on the offensive end, finding open teammates for easier shots. It will be interesting to see what Division can do against teams that either pressure their guards and/or have an inside presence, while PJFK tries to figure out how to keep 4 guards with one basketball happy and can they develop any kind of inside game - if only to keep other teams defenses honest. Both Jenna Davis (Division) and Jackie Gentile (PJFK) were selected to the all-tournament team. Division: 19 - 28 - 42 - 54, PJFK: 7 - 12 - 18 - 32.
