The final between Syosset and SHA was a game of runs. Syosset sprinted out to an early 6 - 0 lead. SHA would eventually score with 3:33 left in the quarter. Both teams defenses forced errant passes and difficult looks at the basket in the 1st quarter. SHA would tie the game on a putback by Junior Katie Sullivan at the 1:14 mark, only to see Syosset's Connie Simmons (Jr.) close out the quarter with 2 quick baskets. SHA opened the second quarter with 6 points by Briana Sloper (Sr.) and Sullivan to grab the lead. Syosset would outscore SHA 10 - 2 over a 2 minute period to take an eight point lead and appeared ready to run SHA out of the gym to. Syosset got sloppy with the ball, while SHA went to Sloper on the block. Sloper scored 8 of her teams 10 points in a 10 - 4 run to close out the half. With the score tied 31 - 31, SHA opened the second half outscoring Sysosset 7 -2 to open a 5 point lead. Now it looked like SHA was ready to run Syosset out of the gym. Christine Banos (Jr.) would score 6 of Syosset's next 10 points to help Syosset grabbed a 3 point lead with 1:15 to go in the 3rd quarter. But Sloper was not to be outdone again as she scored 7 points in 1:24 to give SHA a 49 - 48 lead. The guard play of Banos and Simmons proved to be too much in the 4th quarter as Sloper and her teammates appeared to run out of gas. Syossets Cara Savarese shut down Sloper in the 4th quarter with excellent weak side help from her teammates. SHA held a 51 - 50 lead with 4:57 to go only to be outscored 9 - 3 the remainder of the game.Christine Banos (Syosset) and Briana Sloper (SHA) were selected to the all-tournament team, while Connie Simmons (Syosset) was named tournament MVP. Syosset: 14 - 31 - 48 - 59, SHA: 10 - 31 - 49 - 54.
